APC Presidential Primary: Buhari Gets Over Two Million Votes In Kano

File photo The Returning Officer for the presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, has announced that President Muhammadu Buhari got over two million votes to win the election in the state. Ganduje said this at the party’s secretariat in Kano State on Saturday. He also noted that the primary which was conducted across the 44 local government areas in all 484 wards of the state was peaceful and well organised.

We Will Restore The Lost Glories Of Lagos – Sanwo-Olu

One of the governorship aspirants under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jide Sanwo-Olu, has said that he will restore the lost glories of Lagos  State ,  if elected as the next governor. Sanwo-Olu said this on Sunday during a press briefing barely 24 hours to the governorship primary. He said, “A vote for me tomorrow to become a candidate of the APC would be a vote for taking Lagos to a higher and a bigger and a better level. “It would be a vote to bring back all of the lost glories in Lagos State, be it in health, in education, transportation, in environment, in direct foreign development, we will bring it back to Lagos State and we will remain the first”. His comments also come hours after incumbent governor Akinwunmi Ambode, his opponent in the race for who to secure the party’s ticket in 2019, made various allegations, albeit without mentioning his name. President Buhari Visits Injured Nigerian Air Force Pilots In Hospital

President Muhammadu Buhari has paid a visit to two of the three Nigerian Air Force officers who were involved in a crash last week. The president visited the officers on Sunday at the Defence Intelligence Agency hospital in Abuja, hours after he returned from New York for the United Nations General Assembly, a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said. While one of the officers, Squadron Leader M.B Babari, did not survive the incident, President Buhari thanked God for sparing the lives of the two others. The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, says that the leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) and its members have been misled by campaigns of calumny against him. According to him, they have been misled to believe that his opponent in the race to secure the ticket of the APC in 2019, is a better candidate than himself. Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu The Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, has alleged that Governor Abiola Ajimobi, is against his governorship ambition for fear of being jailed. Shittu made the allegation during an interview on Channels Television’s  Sunday Politics. APC Postpones Ogun Governorship Primary

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has announced the postponement of its governorship primary. The party, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Wole Elegbede, said further directives will be issued later pending clarification from National Working Committee. Although the statement did not state when the governorship primary would hold, it, advised members to await further directives from the NWC. “This to inform all the APC party faithful in Ogun State that the governorship direct primary slated for today has been officially postponed. “Further directives will be issued later pending clarification from National Working Committee,” the statement read.

2019: PDP Approves Port Harcourt For National Convention

The National Executive Council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has approved Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, as the venue for its national convention, ahead of the 2019 general elections. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan confirmed this in Abuja on Saturday, adding that all the aspirants have agreed to the decision. Earlier, some presidential aspirants were said to have opposed the party’s decision to hold the convention in Rivers State. Following the controversy, the state governor, Nyesom Wike, threatened to teach the party a lesson if the convention was moved. According to him, during its national meeting, no presidential aspirant opposed Port Harcourt as a venue. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied postponement of it gubernatorial primary scheduled to hold today. The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement on Sunday described such information as rumours and urged members of the public to disregard it. “The attention of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has just been drawn to rumour making the rounds that the PDP scheduled gubernatorial primary has been postponed. “The PDP wishes to inform all delegates, members of our great party and aspirants for the gubernatorial election that the scheduled date for the primary remains Sunday, September 30, 2018. The party noted that the gubernatorial primary election dates for Lagos, Kano and Imo states which have been postponed would be announced soon.

APC Postpones Lagos, Imo Governorship Primaries To Monday

The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its governorship primaries in Lagos and  Imo  States to Monday, October 1. The primaries would, however, still hold in all other states. The development comes amidst stiff contest for the party’s governorship ticket between incumbent Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and Jide Sanwo-Olu. Barely 24 hours to the primaries, 36 of the 40-member Lagos State House of Assembly, endorsed Sanwo-Olu as their candidate. The Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Strategy and Security, Adefunmilayo Tejuoso, in a statement, said the decision was taken at a parliamentary meeting of the lawmakers on Saturday. “The lawmakers stated that they were in agreement with the leadership of the party and the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) which had earlier endorsed Sanwo-Olu for the governorship ticket,” the statement read. Four members of the House, however, did not sign the endorsement.
